Parks — Eight: Upshur County Recreation Park, Buckhannon City Park, Jawbone Run Park, Fred Brooks Park, Pringle Tree Park, Woodstreet Park, North Buckhannon River Front Park, and Audra State Park.
Banks — Five: First Community Bank, Bank One, Progressive Bank, Freedom Bank and First Central Bank.
Industry — chief industries are agriculture, coal mining, timber, livestock, refractories, manufactured wood products, glass and glass decorating, plastic pipe, and State Division of Highways Equipment Headquarters.
Newspapers — The Record Delta, tri-weekly. The Elkins Inter-Mountain, daily.
Radio stations — WBUC, WBTQ-FM, WVWC-FM, WBRB.
TV station — WBUC, channel three.

Airlines — The county is served by Elkins and Clarksburg airports.
Airports — The Buckhannon-Upshur Airport boasts a 3,400-foot paved runway. Plans to extend the runway are underway, funded mostly by a $1,076,565 FAA grant.
Amusement — Eight public parks, West Virginia Strawberry Festival (end of May),Upshur County Fair (mid-July), and two nine-hole golf courses.
Education — Elementary, 9; Junior/Middle, 1; Senior High, 1; Vocational, 1; West Virginia Wesleyan College, West Virginia Canine College.
Healthcare — St. Joseph’s Hospital, Physicians Office Center, Buckhannon Medical Care, Tri-County Health Clinic in Rock Cave and Little Meadow Health Clinic-Helvetia.
Libraries — Charles W. Gibson Public Library on East Main Street, Annie Merner Pfieffer Library on the WVWC campus, Upshur County Public Library on Route 20 south in Tennerton, and the James Curry Library located in southern Upshur County. The county libraries contain 230,753 volumes.
Incorporation — Buckhannon was established in 1816 and incorporated in 1852. The first courthouse was built in 1854.
